New Small-Scale Rules Published

Concerned Miners and Prospectors

Need to Submit Comments!

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has published the long-awaited revised rules for prospectors and miners.

Concerned miners need to review the revised rules and submit comments.

ALL COMMENTS ARE DUE BY SEPTEMBER 26, 2008.

The WDFW is still relying on data that has NOT been backed by science. Please make it clear that the agency has not included conclusive data showing that small-scale miners have harmed fish or wildlife. There is also no scientific data to support the restricted timing windows for prospecting in rivers and streams.

You can read the entire document here: http://wdfw.wa.gov/hab/goldfish/2008_proposed_prospecting_rules.pdf
